By default, the booking rules configured at the business level apply to all customers.
If you need different booking rules for a particular customer, you can override the general settings from that customer’s profile and apply restrictions specifically to them.
What are customer-specific booking restrictions?
Customer-specific booking restrictions let you control how an individual customer can book with your business.
You can apply restrictions related to:
- Payment behavior
- Appointment approval
- Booking limits
These settings apply only to the selected customer and can differ from your general business-level booking rules.
What types of booking restrictions can I apply?
Payment-related restrictions
You can define whether the customer should be treated as:
- Pre-paying — the customer is required to pay before the appointment is confirmed, based on your payment setup.
- Post-paying — the customer can complete the booking without making the required payment in advance.
Appointment approval restrictions
You can control whether future appointments from that customer should be:
- Approved automatically
- Require approval
This is useful when you want different approval behavior for a particular customer.
Booking limits
You can limit how many appointments the customer is allowed to book within a defined period.
For example, you may allow:
- 3 bookings per month
- 1 booking per week
- A defined number of bookings within a selected date range
The exact restriction depends on the frequency, allowed booking count, and start/end period you configure.

How do customer-specific restrictions interact with business booking rules?
Your business-level booking rules act as the default settings for customers.
When you configure a restriction for an individual customer, that customer can follow the specific rules defined in their profile instead of the general behavior configured for other customers.
This allows you to manage exceptions without changing the booking rules for your entire business.
When should I use customer-specific booking restrictions?
You may use customer-level restrictions when:
- A particular customer should always pre-pay
- A trusted customer can pay after the appointment
- A customer’s future bookings should require approval
- A trusted or verified customer should have bookings approved automatically
- You want to limit how frequently one customer can make appointments
- You need to prevent excessive bookings from one customer
How does appointment approval work with customer restrictions?
If you configure the customer’s Future Bookings Status as approved, their future appointments can be approved automatically according to that customer-specific setting.
If you configure the customer to require approval, their bookings will remain subject to approval instead.
This gives you more control than applying the same approval rule to every customer.
How does the booking limit work?
You can set a maximum number of bookings a customer can make within a selected frequency.
For example:
Allowed bookings: 3
Restriction: Monthly
In this case, the customer can make up to three bookings within the configured monthly period.
You can also define when the restriction starts and, where applicable, when it ends.
