Appointy lets you link a resource to one or multiple services so that the resource is considered when customers book those services.
A resource can be a room, chair, machine, vehicle, studio, workstation, equipment item, or another limited asset required to deliver a service.
If a linked resource is already occupied, Appointy can restrict additional bookings that require the same resource.
Why assign resources to services?
Resource assignment helps you manage real operational capacity.
For example, suppose a clinic has:
- 4 practitioners
- 2 consultation rooms
Even if all four practitioners are available, only two appointments that require a consultation room can take place at the same time.
By linking the consultation rooms to the relevant services, Appointy can take resource availability into account when showing bookable time slots.
Which businesses should use resources?
Resources are useful when your service depends on something limited other than staff availability.
Typical examples include:
- Spas and salons — treatment rooms, chairs, beds
- Clinics — consultation rooms, therapy rooms, equipment
- Fitness businesses — studios, courts, equipment
- Driving schools — vehicles
- Automotive businesses — service bays, lifts
- Photography businesses — studios, rooms, equipment
- Education businesses — classrooms, labs
- Rental or activity businesses — equipment, spaces, vehicles

Example: Assigning a vehicle to driving-school services
Suppose a driving school has three vehicles:
- Vehicle A
- Vehicle B
- Vehicle C
The school offers:
- Beginner Driving Lesson
- Advanced Driving Lesson
- Road Test Preparation
If all three services require a training vehicle, the business can link the vehicle resources to those services.
When a vehicle is already occupied by one booking, Appointy can take that resource availability into account before offering another booking that requires the same vehicle.
This helps prevent the business from scheduling more driving lessons than the available vehicles can support.
Can one resource be assigned to multiple services?
Yes.
A single resource can be linked to multiple services.
For example, the same consultation room could be used for:
- Initial Consultation
- Follow-up Consultation
- Assessment
You can select all three services for that resource.
What happens when I unassign a resource from a service?
When you deselect a service from a resource, that resource is no longer linked to that service.
The resource can still remain connected to other services.
For example, if Room 1 is linked to Massage, Facial, and Consultation, you can remove it from Consultation while keeping it assigned to Massage and Facial.
Assigning from Resource vs linking from Service
Appointy allows the relationship to be managed from either side.
Use Resource → Edit when your starting question is:
“Which services use this resource?”
Use Service → Resources when your starting question is:
“Which resources does this service require?”
Both approaches manage the relationship between services and resources.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I assign a resource to a service in Appointy?
Go to Settings → Resource, select the resource, click Edit, select the required service, and click Save.
Can I assign one resource to multiple services?
Yes. One resource can be linked to multiple services.
Can I unassign a resource from only one service?
Yes. Deselect that service while leaving the other service assignments selected.
Does unassigning a resource delete it?

The service may not be available for another booking during that time if the required resource is unavailable.
Why is a staff member available but the service is not showing?
