Appointy lets you control when booking time slots are displayed for each service.
A service can:
- Follow the business-level time interval
- Use its own custom time interval
- Open only at specific predefined times using Precision slots
This is useful when different services need different booking patterns.
What is a service time interval?
The time interval controls the gap between the start times shown to customers for a service.
For example, if a service uses a 90-minute interval, available start times may appear as:
- 10:00 AM
- 11:30 AM
- 1:00 PM
- 2:30 PM
The interval controls when slots open, not necessarily the service duration itself.
Why use a custom time interval?
Different services may need different booking patterns.
For example:
- A consultation may open every 30 minutes
- A workshop may open every 2 hours
- A class may only start at fixed times
- A long-duration service may need wider gaps between available start times
This allows each service to follow a booking schedule that matches how it is actually delivered.
How to edit the time interval for a service
Quick navigation
Settings → Service → Select Service → Details → Time Interval → Edit → Save
Steps
- Log in to your Appointy admin account.
- Click Settings in the toolbar on the left.
- Under Resource Management, open Service.
- Select the service whose time interval you want to change.
Under the Details tab, click Edit next to Time Interval.
.
.
You can then choose how the time slots for that service should be generated.
Option 1: Use the business time interval
By default, the service follows the time interval configured at the business level.
.
.
Use this option when the service should follow the same slot pattern as the rest of your business.
Option 2: Set a custom time interval
Select Set custom time interval if the service needs its own interval.
Enter the interval in minutes.
For example, if you set the interval to 90 minutes, the service may open at:
10:00 AM → 11:30 AM → 1:00 PM → 2:30 PM
.
.
Example: Consultation bookings every 45 minutes
Suppose a business wants a particular consultation service to start every 45 minutes.
Instead of using the general business interval, the service can be configured with a 45-minute custom interval.
This affects the start times offered for that service without changing the time interval used by other services.
Option 3: Open the service only at specific times using Precision
Select Precision when the service should only be available at specific start times.
Enter the required times separated by commas.
For example:
10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM
The service will open at those specified start times, subject to the staff, service, and other availability rules.
.
.
Example: Fixed class start times
Suppose a business runs a class only at:
- 8:00 AM
- 12:00 PM
- 6:00 PM
Instead of opening the class at regular intervals throughout the day, the business can use Precision and enter:
8:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 6:00 PM
Customers will then be offered those specific class start times when they are available.
How to make a later Precision slot appear only after earlier slots are booked
Precision also allows you to control when certain later slots become available.
Use # before a time slot when you do not want that slot to appear until the preceding slots have been booked.
For example:
10:00 AM, 1:00 PM # 4:00 PM
In this setup, the 4:00 PM slot will not be offered unless the preceding 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM slots are booked.
This is useful when a business wants to fill earlier time slots before opening later ones.
Example: Fill earlier consultation slots first
Suppose a consultant wants to offer:
- 10:00 AM
- 1:00 PM
- 4:00 PM
but prefers not to open the 4:00 PM appointment unless the earlier slots have already been filled.
The Precision configuration can be entered as:
10:00 AM, 1:00 PM # 4:00 PM
This helps concentrate bookings into earlier time periods before opening the later slot.
Time interval vs service duration
These are two different settings.
Service duration defines how long the appointment lasts.
Time interval defines how frequently potential start times are generated.
For example, a 60-minute service could still use a 30-minute time interval, depending on how the business wants available start times to appear.
The actual slot must still satisfy the service duration and the rest of the availability rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change the time interval for one service?
Go to Settings → Service, select the service, open Details, click Edit next to Time Interval, choose the required option, and save the changes.
Does every service have to use the same time interval?
No. A service can follow the business time interval or use its own custom interval.
What does Precision mean in Appointy?
Precision lets you define exact start times at which a service can be offered.
For example:
10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM
Can I make a slot appear only after earlier slots are booked?
Yes. In Precision settings, use # before the later slot.
For example:
10:00 AM, 1:00 PM # 4:00 PM
Is time interval the same as service duration?
No. Service duration controls how long the appointment lasts. Time interval controls the spacing between potential appointment start times.
When should I use Precision instead of a custom interval?
Use a custom interval when start times should follow a regular pattern.
Use Precision when the service should open only at specific times.
