If you temporarily stop offering a service, you can suspend it instead of deleting it.
Suspending a service removes it from active booking while allowing you to retain the service and its related appointment records.
Why suspend a service instead of deleting it?
Suspending is useful when you want to stop offering a service without permanently removing it.
For example:
- A seasonal service is no longer available
- A limited-time program has ended
- A class or service is being paused temporarily
- You plan to offer the service again later
- You want to remove the service from booking but retain its historical appointment records
If you delete the service instead, the appointment records associated with that service are lost.
How to suspend a service
Quick navigation
Settings → Service → Select Service → Details → Turn off Active
Steps
- Log in to your Appointy admin account.
- Click Settings in the toolbar on the left.
- Under Resource Management, open Service.
- Select the service you want to disable or suspend.
- Under the Details tab, turn off the toggle next to Active.
.
The service will be moved from the Active service list to the Suspended service list.
Example: Pausing a seasonal service
Suppose a photography business offers a Holiday Mini Photo Session only during November and December.
Once the season ends, the business does not want customers to continue booking that service, but it also wants to retain the service and its previous appointment records.
Instead of deleting the service, the business can suspend it.
When the service is offered again the following year, it can simply be reactivated.
What happens when a service is suspended?
When you suspend a service:
- The service becomes inactive
- Customers can no longer book it while it is suspended
- The service remains in your Appointy account
- Its related appointment records are retained
- You can reactivate the service later
Suspend vs delete a service
| Suspend Service | Delete Service |
|---|---|
| Temporarily disables the service | Permanently removes the service |
| Service can be enabled again later | Service cannot simply be reactivated |
| Related appointment records are retained | Related appointment records are lost |
| Useful for seasonal or temporarily paused services | Better suited when the service is no longer required |
When should I not suspend a service?
If the service itself is still being offered and only a particular staff member is unavailable, you should generally update or block that staff member’s availability instead of suspending the entire service.
Suspension is intended for situations where the service itself should no longer be bookable.
