Appointy lets you control whether a service is available for customers to book online or is only available for internal scheduling by your team.
A service can be either:
- Public — customers can see and book the service from your booking interface
- Private / Internal — customers cannot book the service online, but an Admin or staff member can still schedule it from the Appointy calendar
When should I make a service private?
Private services are useful when a service should only be scheduled internally.
For example:
- A consultation that should only be booked after speaking with the customer
- A follow-up appointment that staff should schedule manually
- A VIP or invitation-only service
- An internal assessment that should not appear publicly
- A service that requires staff approval before it is scheduled
- A service used only for existing customers
This lets you keep the service available for your team without displaying it on the customer booking interface.

What happens when a service is private?
When Internal Service is enabled:
- The service is not available for customers to book online
- The service can still be scheduled internally
- An Admin or staff member can create appointments for that service from the Appointy calendar
- The service remains active in your account
This is different from suspending a service.
A private service remains usable internally, while a suspended service is disabled.
Example: Follow-up consultation booked only by staff
Suppose a clinic offers:
- Initial Consultation
- Follow-up Consultation
The Initial Consultation is available publicly so new customers can book it online.
However, the clinic wants the Follow-up Consultation to be scheduled only after the doctor decides that another visit is required.
The clinic can make the Follow-up Consultation an Internal Service.
Customers will not see it as a public booking option, but the Admin or staff member can still schedule it directly from the calendar.
How to make a private service public again
To make the service available for online booking again:
- Go to Settings → Service.
- Select the service.
- Open the Details tab.
- Turn off the Internal Service toggle.
The service will return to Public status.
