If a staff member no longer provides services in a particular geographic area, you can unlink that area code from their profile.
This prevents the staff member from appearing as an available option for customers booking in that area, while keeping the staff member and the area code available elsewhere in your account.
When should I unlink an area code from a staff member?
Unlink an area code when:
- A staff member stops serving a particular area
- Their service territory changes
- A driving instructor is reassigned to different suburbs or postal codes
- A mobile service provider no longer travels to that location
- An area code was assigned to the wrong staff member
Unlinking only removes the relationship between the staff member and that area code.
Example: Driving school instructor changes service area
Suppose a driving school has an instructor who currently serves:
- Area 1
- Area 2
- Area 3
The instructor stops covering Area 3 but continues teaching in Area 1 and Area 2.
The business can unlink Area 3 from that instructor.
After the change:
- The instructor remains available for Area 1
- The instructor remains available for Area 2
- The instructor will no longer appear for customers booking in Area 3
This helps keep instructor availability aligned with the actual areas they serve.

Which option should I use?
Both methods remove the same staff-to-area relationship.
Use Staff → Postal Codes when your question is:
“Which areas should this staff member serve?”
Use Area Codes → Edit when your question is:
“Which staff members should serve this area?”
For example, if one driving instructor changes their territory, managing the assignment from the staff profile may be easier.
If several instructors stop serving the same area, managing them from the Area Codes section may be more convenient.
What happens after I unlink the area code?
Once the area code is unlinked:
- The staff member remains active in Appointy
- The area code remains in your account
- Other area-code assignments for that staff member remain unchanged
- Other staff members assigned to that area remain unchanged
- The staff member will no longer be shown for customers booking in that unassigned area
