If a staff member has been disabled or suspended, you can restore them by changing their status back to Active.
This is useful when a staff member was temporarily unavailable but is now ready to accept appointments again.
What is a suspended staff member?
A suspended staff member is a staff profile that has been temporarily disabled.
The profile remains in your Appointy account, so you do not need to create the staff member again.
When should I suspend and later re-enable a staff member?
This is useful when the staff member is temporarily unavailable but may return later.
For example:
- The staff member is on long leave
- The staff member is temporarily inactive
- The staff member is away for an extended period
- The staff member is not currently taking appointments
- You want to keep their profile and history instead of deleting them
If the staff member is only unavailable for a short period, updating their availability or blocking time may be more appropriate than suspending the entire staff profile.
How to enable a suspended staff member
Quick navigation
Settings → Staff → Active dropdown → Suspended → Select Staff Member → Details → Turn on Active
Steps
- Log in to your Appointy admin account.
- Click Settings in the toolbar on the left.
- Open the Staff tab.
- Click the down-facing arrow next to Active beside the Staff title.
- Select Suspended from the drop-down menu.
- From the suspended staff list, select the staff member you want to restore.
- Under the Details tab, turn on the toggle next to Active.
.
The staff member will become active again.
Example: Staff member returning from extended leave
Suppose a salon stylist is away for several months and the business does not want customers booking with them during that period.
The business can suspend the staff profile.
When the stylist returns, the Admin can open the Suspended staff list and turn the Active toggle back on.
This allows the business to reuse the existing staff profile instead of creating a new one.
What happens after the staff member is re-enabled?
Once the staff member is active again:
- Their staff profile becomes active
- They can be used for scheduling again
- Their existing configuration remains associated with the profile
- Their availability still depends on their configured services, business hours, and other scheduling rules
