If a staff member is no longer available for bookings, you can suspend their profile instead of deleting it.
Suspending a staff member keeps the staff profile and related appointment history in your account, while preventing the staff member from being available for new bookings.
Why suspend a staff member instead of deleting them?
Suspending is useful when you want to stop bookings for a staff member but still retain their records.
For example:
- The staff member is on extended leave
- The staff member is temporarily inactive
- The staff member is not currently accepting appointments
- The staff member may return later
- You want to preserve their appointment history
Deleting a staff member removes the staff profile and also deletes the appointment records associated with that staff member.

.
Example: Staff member on extended leave
Suppose a therapist will be unavailable for several months.
If you delete the therapist, their associated appointment history will also be deleted.
Instead, you can suspend the staff member.
While suspended:
- The staff member is not available for new bookings
- Their profile remains in your Appointy account
- Their previous appointment records are retained
- You can reactivate the staff member later when they return
When should I suspend a staff member instead of blocking availability?
Suspending is best when the staff member will be unavailable for an extended period or should not currently be part of the active booking setup.
If the staff member is unavailable only for a few hours, days, or specific dates, it is usually better to block or update their availability instead.
