A Service Category helps you group related services so customers can find and choose the right offering more easily.
If you are creating your first category, it will be created as a standalone category because there is no existing category available to use as a parent.
Once you create additional categories, you can choose whether they should remain standalone or be placed under an existing category as a child category.
How to create your first Service Category
Quick navigation
Settings → Masters → Categories → + → Enter Category Details → Save
Steps
- Log in to your Appointy admin account.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Masters, open Categories.
- Click the + icon.
- Enter the Category Title.
- Add a Description if required.
- Click Save.
Your first category will now appear in the Categories list.
How to create a parent and child category
Once at least one category already exists, you can create another category and place it under an existing category.
While creating the new category, use the Parent Category option to select the category it should belong under.
For example:
Parent Category: Hair Treatment
Child Category: Hair Color
Your category structure would then look like:
Hair Treatment
→ Hair Color
You can continue adding more child categories if required.
For example:
Hair Treatment
→ Hair Color
→ Hair Wash
→ Haircut
If the new category should remain independent, keep Parent Category set to None.
Why use Service Categories?
Service Categories are useful when your business has several related services.
For example, a salon may organize services as:
Hair Services
- Haircut
- Hair Color
- Hair Wash
Skin Treatments
- Facial
- Cleanup
- Skin Consultation
This gives customers a clearer booking experience and helps your team manage a larger service catalog more efficiently.
