A service is a type of appointment, class, session, treatment, consultation, lesson, event, or other offering that customers can book with your business.
When creating a service, you can define information such as its name, description, duration, price, capacity, images, and availability.
Use terminology that matches your business
In Appointy, Service is the default term for a bookable offering, but you can change the service alias to match the terminology your business and customers normally use.
For example:
- A tutoring business may use Class / Classes
- A coaching business may use Session / Sessions
- A music school may use Lesson / Lessons
- A clinic may use Consultation / Consultations or Treatment / Treatments
- An activity business may use Activity / Activities
For example, a tutoring business may not want its booking page to say:
Book a Service
It can change the service alias to Class, so customers instead see:
Book a Class
You can define both the singular and plural aliases.
For example:
Singular: Class
Plural: Classes
Changing the service alias changes the general terminology used for services. It does not create or modify the individual services already configured in your account.
What types of services can I create?
Appointy supports two primary service types.
One-to-one service
Use a one-to-one service when one staff member provides the service to one customer at a time.
Examples include:
- Haircut
- Massage
- Medical consultation
- Driving lesson
- Tutoring session
- Personal training session
Group service
Use a group service when one staff member provides the service to multiple customers at the same time.
Examples include:
- Yoga class
- Fitness class
- Group coaching session
- Workshop
- Training class
- Group lesson
The capacity determines how many customers can book the group service.
How to create a new service
Quick navigation
Settings → Appointment Settings → Services → + → Enter Service Details → Next → Add Images → Next → Set Business Hours → Finish
Steps 1:
- Log in to your Appointy admin account.
- Click Settings.
- Under Appointment Settings, open Services.
-
On the Services page, click the + icon in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Choose the service type
After clicking the + icon to create a new service, Appointy will ask you to choose the type of service you want to create:
- One to One — choose this when one staff member provides the service to one customer at a time.
-
Group — choose this when one staff member can provide the service to multiple customers at the same time.
Step 3: Choose where the service will be provided
Next, select where customers will receive the service.
You can choose from:
- In-Location — select this when the service is provided at your business location.
- Online (Virtual Event) — select this when the service is provided online.
- In Customer’s Location — select this when the service is delivered at the customer’s location.
Choose the option that matches how the service will be delivered.
Step 4: Add the service details
After choosing where the service will be provided, enter the basic details for the service.
For a One-to-One Service, add:
- Service title
- Description
- Duration
- Price
For a Group Service, add:
- Service title
- Description
- Duration
- Price
- Capacity
You can also add additional duration and pricing options by clicking the + icon.
For group services, set the capacity to define how many customers one staff member can serve at the same time.
For example, if a yoga class can accommodate 12 customers, set the capacity to 12.
The new service will then be added to your service list.
Example: Creating a one-to-one consultation
Suppose a consulting business wants to offer an Initial Consultation.
The business could configure:
Service: Initial Consultation
Type: One-to-one
Duration: 60 minutes
Price: $100
Capacity: 1
Category: Consultations
It can then upload a service image and configure the staff and hours during which the consultation can be booked.
Example: Creating a group class
Suppose a fitness studio wants to create a Morning Yoga Class.
The business could configure:
Service: Morning Yoga
Type: Group service
Duration: 60 minutes
Capacity: 15
Category: Yoga Classes
Once availability is configured, up to 15 customers can book the same class session.
Organize services into categories
You can group related services into service categories.
For example:
Massage
- Swedish Massage
- Deep Tissue Massage
- Sports Massage
Classes
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Strength Training
When you create a new category, it becomes available on your Services page and can be selected while creating services.
Categories are especially useful when your business has a large service catalog.
What should I configure after creating a service?
Creating the service is only the starting point.
Depending on your business setup, you may also want to configure:
- Staff assigned to the service
- Service availability
- Resources required by the service
- Public or Internal visibility
- Service-specific booking link
- Service images
- Pricing and duration options
- Prepayments
- Booking and approval rules
- Cancellation policies
- Intake forms
- Add-ons
- Buffer time
For multi-location businesses, Appointy Premium also supports service templates, allowing you to create a service once and assign it across multiple locations instead of recreating it separately in every location account.
Free plan service limit
The Free plan allows you to create up to 5 services.
If you need more services, upgrade to a paid plan.
