If your business operates across multiple locations and offers the same services at more than one location, Service Templates help you avoid recreating those services separately in every location account.
You can create a service once as a template and then use that template across multiple locations.
This is especially useful when you add a new location and want to quickly populate it with services that already exist elsewhere in your organization.
Why use Service Templates?
Service Templates help multi-location businesses:
- Create a service once
- Reuse the same service across multiple locations
- Reduce repetitive setup
- Maintain a more consistent service structure across locations
- Add existing services more quickly when a new location is created
For example, if a wellness business has 15 locations and offers the same Deep Tissue Massage service at all of them, you do not need to create that service 15 separate times.
Instead, create a single Service Template and assign it to the relevant locations.
How to create a Service Template
Quick navigation
Settings → Appointment Settings → Service Templates → + → Enter Template Details → Next → Add Image → Save
Steps
- Log in to your Appointy admin account.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Appointment Settings, open Service Templates.
- Click the + icon in the top-right corner.
- In the New Service Template window, enter the service details.
These can include:
- Category
- Service template title
- Description
- Duration
- Price
- Capacity
- Click Next.
- Upload the image you want to use for the service template.
- Click Save.
The template will then be available for use across your multi-location setup.
Example: Using one service across multiple locations
Suppose a salon chain operates at:
- Downtown
- Northside
- Riverside
- Airport
and all four locations offer:
Hair Coloring
Instead of creating Hair Coloring separately in every location account, the business can create one Hair Coloring Service Template and assign it to all four locations.
If a new fifth location is added later, the same template can be used there as well.
This reduces repetitive configuration and helps keep the service setup consistent.
Service Template vs Location-Specific Service
A Service Template is useful when the same service should be reused across multiple locations.
A location-specific service is more appropriate when the service exists only at one location or needs a unique setup there.
For example:
Use a Service Template when:
- The same service is offered at several locations
- You want to standardize service details across locations
- You regularly open new locations
- You want to avoid recreating the same service repeatedly
Use a location-specific service when:
- Only one location offers the service
- The service needs a unique local setup
- The service should not be shared across the rest of the organization
What can be defined in a Service Template?
A Service Template can include core service details such as:
- Category
- Title
- Description
- Duration
- Price
- Capacity
- Service image
After using the template at a location, the location can then be configured as part of its own operational setup.
When are Service Templates most useful?
Service Templates are particularly valuable for:
- Franchise businesses
- Clinic networks
- Salon and spa chains
- Fitness businesses with multiple studios
- Driving schools with multiple branches
- Education and tutoring organizations
- Businesses that frequently add new locations
The more locations you manage, the more valuable it becomes to create reusable service definitions rather than rebuilding the same services account by account.
